
RubberDucks Quiet in 9-1 Setback

Akron RubberDucks News Release
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, backed by two K.C. Hobson home runs and an excellent start by left-handed pitcher Matt Boyd in their 9-1 victory over the RubberDucks Tuesday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
The Fisher Cats took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Ronald Torreyes. The first of two K.C. Hobson home runs came in the fourth inning made the score 2-0. The Fisher Cats would never relinquish the lead after that.
Mound Presence
Fisher Cats starter Matt Boyd was masterful, allowing just two hits and one earned run in his seven innings of work. Lefty Ryan Merritt struggled in his six innings pitched, allowing nine hits and four earned runs. Reliever Josh Martin allowed just his fourth earned run of the season in his only inning of work. His ERA for the season was raised to 1.10. Jeff Johnson had a rare rough outing, allowing four earned runs in the top of the 9th raising his season ERA to 2.11.
Duck Tales
The Ducks managed just two hits on the night. One of which came when Anthony Gallas launched a no-doubt homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. The homer was the third of the season for Gallas. The other hit was a second-inning double by Ronny Rodriguez in his first at-bat this season after coming off the disabled list today.
Notes
Ronny Rodriguez made his season debut coming back from a broken hamate bone injury in his left wrist suffered during Spring Training. He doubled in his first at-bat of the year. Tony Wolters continues to excel at throwing out attempted base stealers as he nabbed three more tonight. He has now thrown out 55% for the season to lead the Eastern League...Time of game 2:41 ...Attendance: 4,018.
