
Curve downs Fightin Phils in opener

The Fightin Phils (31-26) lost to the Altoona Curve (35-21) 6-2 on Tuesday night. Ben Lively (4-4) gave up just three runs in five innings but took the loss despite two RBI's from Brock Stassi.
Altoona took a 1-0 lead with two outs in the top of the 3rd inning off Lively as Willy Garcia hit a RBI single to score Eric Wood. JP Crawford committed his second error as a Fightin Phil in the previous at-bat that allowed Josh Bell to reach first and prolong the inning. Brock Stassi tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning off Angel Sanchez as he hit a RBI single to score JP Crawford.
The Curve jumped ahead 3-1 off Lively in the top of the fifth inning as Max Moroff and Josh Bell hit back-to-back RBI doubles with one out. Lively left after five innings as he allowed three runs (two earned) off eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Gift Ngoepe hit a RBI single off Fightins reliever Colton Murray in the top of the sixth inning to extend the lead to 4-1.
Brock Stassi cut the Curve's lead in half as he hit a solo home run off Sanchez, his seventh of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Curve scored two more runs in the game, this time off Adam Loewen to extend their lead to 6-2 in the top of the eighth inning. Stetson Allie hit a home run and Josh Bell hit a sacrifice fly. Loewen allowed two runs through one inning with one walk issued and three hits given up.
Lee Ridenhour pitched one scoreless inning in the top of the ninth. He gave up one hit with one strikeout. Brock Stassi and Aaron Altherr ended the night with two hits each. Cameron Perkins extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single in the eighth inning.
The Fightin Phils will be back at it against Altoona on Wednesday night. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm. Fans can watch the game live on MiLB.tv beginning at 7:05 pm.
