Senators Homer Four Times in Season-Opening Win

The Harrisburg Senators used the long ball to deliver a 9-6 win Friday night in Altoona. Harrisburg hit four home runs, two by KJ Harrison, in the win. Ronald Herrera started and earned the win for the Senators. Matt Brill notched his first save with a scoreless ninth inning.

ON CAPITAL HILL

Ronald Herrera started and pitched well though he allowed a pair of two-out two run home runs. He struck out six and walked one in five innings.

Andrew Lee pitched an inning allowing two runs, one earned while facing six batters.

Brian Gonzalez made his Nationals organization debut by tossing two scoreless frames. He faced nine batters, striking out two and walking one.

Matt Brill walked the first two batters in the ninth but pitched around the walks to finish the game and earn the save.

WITH THE GAVEL

KJ Harrison hit two home runs and drove in four on three hits. His second home run, in the ninth inning, went an estimated 430 feet.

Taylor Gushue and Justin Connell both had two hits in the game with Connell chipping in an RBI.

Gilbert Lara hit a three-run home run giving the Sens a 6-0 lead in the fourth

Rudy Martin hit a solo home run in the third

FILIBUSTERS

The Senators dropped their first two games last year before winning their first game. There were six combined home runs in the game.

The Senators and Altoona Curve play game two of their three-game series Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at PNG Field in Altoona. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 3:50 p.m.
