Bridgeport Islanders News Release

The Binghamton Senators struck for four first period goals and rolled to 5-2 victory over the visiting Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night. Jeff Heerema had two goals and an assist and Josh Hennessy and Arttu Luttinen each added a pair of assists for the Senators who improved to 8-15-1-2. The Sound Tigers dropped to 11-9-1-3, but lead the season series 3-2; Bridgeport won in its first two trips to Binghamton.

Bright spots for the Sound Tigers were Jeremy Colliton extending his point streak to seven games and backup goaltender Michel Mole stopping all 18 shots he faced in relief of starter Billy Thompson. Bridgeport's Jeff Tambellini, meanwhile, saw his 10 game point steak finally come to an end as Binghamton goaltender Jeff Glass made 26 saves. Colliton assisted Chris Campoli's third period shorthanded tally to pull the Sound Tigers to within 4-2 before Danny Bois scored an empty net goal to seal the Binghamton win.

Bridgeport's Steve Regier scored a goal, assisted by newcomer Brandon Nolan and Campoli, in the first stanza, a period in which Binghamton outshot Bridgeport 16-3 and chased Thompson, the former Senators' goaltender. Mole was called up from the East Coast Hockey League's Pensacola Ice Pilots this week and saw action in just his second Sound Tiger game.

The Sound Tigers, winners of two straight home games, including an overtime win over the Senators on Wednesday, return to the Arena at Harbor Yard to host Lowell on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. For schedule and ticket information, including group discount opportunities, visit soundtigers.com or call 334-4625.
