Defenseman Jamie Allison named Senators captain

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton Senators head coach Dave Cameron today announced that defenseman Jamie Allison has been named team captain for the 2006-07 season.

Allison, 31, is in his first season with the Senators organization after splitting time between the Nashville Predators and the Florida Panthers during the 2005-06 season. The Lindsay, Ontario native has played in 372 NHL games, collecting 30 points and 639 penalty minutes.

The veteran has also tallied 35 points in 157 AHL games with Saint John and Binghamton.

Allison was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the second round (44th overall) on the 1993 NHL entry draft. He is the fifth player in franchise history to serve as captain. The others were Denis Hamel (2005-06), Chris Kelly (03-04, 04-05) and Steve Martins and Brian Pothier during the inaugural season (2002-03).

The Senators take the ice tonight at the Arena as they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Good seats are still available for tonight's contest against the Admirals.
