San Antonio Rampage News Release

The San Antonio Rampage pulled out an incredible 3-2 shootout victory Saturday night in a see-saw battle in the finale of a two-game set with the Milwaukee Admirals at the AT&T Center.

Don MacLean scored his seventh goal of the season with 13 seconds remaining in regulation, on a scramble in front of the net, forcing the game into overtime.

Rampage netminder Josh Tordjman kept the Rampage steady in the extra frame, as neither team could put the game away, sending it to the shootout where the Rampage entered with a perfect 1-0 shootout record.

The Rampage (9-16-0-0) came out of the gates moving the puck well again, but neither team could put anything by the two goaltenders, as Tordjman stopped 14 shots for the Rampage in the first period and former Rampage goalie Karl Goehring stopped 12 for the Admirals.

Milwaukee (10-12-2-0), who defeated the Rampage 5-4 on Thursday evening, ending the scoreless draught just 5:56 into the second as Rich Peverly scored his seventh goal of the season to give the Admirals the 1-0 lead.

The Rampage came back early in the third period as Jeff Taffe got the Phoenix Coyotes affiliate on the board with his eighth goal of the season at the 1:09 mark. His goal was assisted by Bill Thomas, his 17th point of the season. Six minutes later, Ramzi Abid scored his seventh goal of the season giving Milwaukee a 2-1 lead.

The Admirals appeared to be smooth sailing until Rampage coach Pat Conacher pulled netminder Tordjman for the extra attacker. Randall Gelech fired a shot on Goehring, but before he could smother it, Don MacLean punched in the game-tying goal.

Tordjman stopped the Admirals' lone shot in the overtime and four more in the shootout to give him his fist career shootout win. Rampage leading scorer Yanick Lehoux and Jakub Koreis each scored on Goehring, who entered the game with a 10-1 career shootout record. Goehring was the AHL's top goaltender in shootouts in 2004-05.
