Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - Cameron Seitzer doubled home a pair in the sixth inning on Wednesday night at Bowling Green Ballpark, leading the Bowling Green Hot Rods (22-18) to a 4-1 victory over the Dayton Dragons (14-26). In game one of a three-game series, Roberto Gomez was strong enough in his six innings to grab his second consecutive win. Josh Sale added an RBI-single as the Hot Rods won for the fifth time in the last six games.
Both teams waited to score until the sixth inning as Dayton grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top half of the frame. However, the Hot Rods answered in their half of the sixth. Drew Vettleson and Jeff Malm both singled with one out, putting runners at first and second for Seitzer, who doubled down the line in left field to score both runners. Sale then followed with an RBI-single that scored Seitzer, and the Hot Rods led 3-1 after six innings.
Bowling Green tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of eighth as Sale reached on an error and scored. Those runs were more than enough for Hot Rods pitching on Wednesday night. Roberto Gomez allowed a mere unearned run in his six innings of work, earning his third win of the season. Andrew Bellatti entered the game for the final three innings, hurling three scoreless frames to grab his second professional save.
The Hot Rods and Dragons continue this three-game series from Bowling Green Ballpark on Thursday at 6:35 PM. Bowling Green will send RHP Jake Floethe (5-1, 3.27) to the mound. Dayton has not named a starter. Tune in to the game on WBGN-AM1340 "The Ticket" and online at 1340wbgn.com. Join Hank Fuerst for the Forever Communications Pregame Show at 6:15 PM.
