
Two Homers Take Game from Quad Cities

Beloit, WI- The Beloit Snappers made a late game charge Wednesday night to take the game one from Clinton. Beloit picked up their fifth consecutive win Wednesday night 4-2 against the Quad Cities River Bandits to maintain their first place standing. Matt Koch and A.J. Pettersen stole the show hitting their first homers of the season tonight.
Quad Cities struck first in the top of the first against Snappers' starter, Jason Wheeler, on an RBI single by Colin Walsh scoring Tyler Rahmatulla, who doubled earlier in the inning. The River Bandits tacked on another run in the top of the fourth when David Medina singled scoring Juan Castillo putting them up 2-0.
Wheeler pitched six innings for the Snappers allowing seven hits, two runs, both of them earned and struck out five. David Hurlbut, who came in to relieve Wheeler in the top of the seventh, pitched two innings not allowing a single hit or run, picking up his first win of the season.
It was a big bottom of the seventh for Beloit when Matt Koch ripped a three-run homer scoring Adam Bryant and Rory Rhodes who had back to back walks to start the inning. This was Koch's first home run of the season putting the Snappers up 3-2. The Snappers added one more run with yet another homer in the bottom of the eighth by A.J. Pettersen, putting the Snappers up 4-2, his first of the season.
Ryan O'Rourke came in to relieve Hurlbut in the top of the ninth, allowing just one hit and no runs to pick up his second save of the season.
The Snappers continue their three-game series Thursday at 11:00am against the Quad Cities River Bandits.
