South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and the ECHL announced today that Stingrays Hall of Famer Dave Seitz is an inductee for the ECHL Hall of Fame. Seitz will be formally inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame on Wednesday, January 18 in conjunction with the 2012 ECHL Board of Governors Midseason Meeting at the Embassy Suites in North Charleston, SC. Details on the luncheon and ticket information will be released in the coming weeks.

Seitz played in 489 games over eight seasons with the Stingrays and ranks sixth in ECHL history with 384 assists, 10th with 587 points and 19th with 217 goals. The Buffalo, New York, native was part of the Stingrays' 1997 and 2001 Kelly Cup championship teams and was named Most Valuable Player of the 2001 Kelly Cup Playoffs after leading the postseason with 15 assists and 28 points and tying for the lead with 13 goals.

"Dave truly deserves to be inducted into the ECHL's Hall of Fame," said former teammate and current Stingrays President Rob Concannon. "He was one of the most skilled and gifted players the league has ever seen. He wasn't the fastest skater or the most physical player, but he scored many timely goals and assisted on hundreds of others. As a two time Kelly Cup Champ and Playoff MVP in 2001, Dave will probably go down as one the best players in the league's history."

Seitz's 73 postseason points are tied for seventh all-time while his 44 assists are tied for ninth and his 29 goals are tied for 13th. A product of Clarkson University, Seitz played in the 1998 and 1999 ECHL All-Star Games and is tied for third in All-Star history with five career assists. In 2005, Seitz became the fifth member of The Post and Courier Stingrays Hall of Fame and is one of only three players in the 19-year history of the team to have his number retired.

Seitz joins Bill Coffey, Sheldon Gorski, John Marks and Bob Woods in the 2012 ECHL Hall of Fame class.
