Gladiators Sign Aaron Bendickson
December 1, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators have signed forward Aaron Bendickson.
Bendickson earned 26 points (eight goals, 18 assists) in 30 games last year with the Gladiators. He also had one goal in seven games in the American Hockey League with Rochester.
The Gladiators suspended forward Aaron Bendickson on January 14, 2011 after he returned to the University of Wisconsin to complete his degree. Gwinnett suspended Bendickson to retain his ECHL player rights for the remainder of the 2010-2011 season. Bendickson had no alternatives and had to return to Wisconsin in order to finish his degree within the University time frame of his athletic scholarship.
While at the University of Wisconsin, Bendickson skated with the Badgers hockey team for his four years of NCAA eligibility from the 2006-07 season through the 2009-10 season. In four years at the University of Wisconsin, he earned 40 points in 147 career collegiate games.
At the time of his suspension last season, Bendickson shared second in scoring on the Gladiators with 26 points and was selected to represent the Gladiators at the ECHL All Star Game in Bakersfield, California on January 26th.
Bendickson should be available for the Gladiators for Friday's 7:30 p.m. tilt in Florida against the Everblades.
The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
