Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - To celebrate the success of the inaugural "Reading Wranglers" program, the Las Vegas Wranglers will award ten elementary school students and one teacher their own Amazon Kindle during the team's game against the Idaho Steelheads on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7:05 p.m.

Over 60 elementary schools in the Clark County School District participated in the Wranglers' six-week reading program that gave weekly prizes for daily reading. More than 22,000 K-5 students read over 170,000 hours during the program's run, which wrapped up mid-November.

To win the Kindle, teacher Lindsay Tomlinson from Sister Robert Joseph Bailey Elementary School had the highest percentage of students complete the "Reading Wranglers" program, with her class reading 17,630 minutes altogether. The students receiving the Kindles were chosen at random from all the students who finished the program. They will be given their prizes on the ice at the beginning of the first intermission.

"Reading Wranglers was a great success," said Shari Scheele, Vice President of Development and Community Relations for The Public Education Foundation. "Students from across the valley embraced the reading challenge and spent extra hours each week engaged in books. We applaud the Wranglers for helping to bring the joy of reading to children."

The Wranglers partnered with The Public Education Foundation to launch the "Reading Wranglers" program this fall, with the University of Phoenix as the title sponsor and Silver State Schools Credit Union as the presenting sponsor. Weekly prizes for the students were donated by Del Taco, GameWorks, Sammy's Woodfired Pizza, Sweet Tomatoes, Coffee Bean and Jamba Juice. Staples also donated a pallet of paper to offset school printing costs.

The Wranglers face the Idaho Steelheads on Friday at the Orleans Arena with a puck drop at 7:05 p.m. The annual Teddy Bear Toss also returns for this game which benefits Sunrise Acres Elementary School.

2011-12 season seat packages, starting at $30, are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. Individual tickets to Wranglers games are available by phone at (702) 284-7777, and can be purchased in person at all Coast Casino properties, Town Square shopping center or online at www.orleansarena.com.
