ONTARIO, Calif. - Goaltender Olivier Roy made 36 saves and stopped all five shots in the shootout, enough to boost the Stockton Thunder (9-6-3, 21 points) to a 4-3 shootout victory against the Ontario Reign at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Wednesday.

Tony DeHart, Ian O'Connor and Jordan Foreman scored in regulation for the Thunder and used a first round goal by Ryan Martindale in the shootout en route to the win. The Thunder improved to 8-2-2 in the last 12 games in Ontario, dating back to 2009-10 and Roy won his third straight game against the Reign.

DeHart got the Thunder on the board at the 9:49 mark of the first period, burying a one-timer from the slot off Colton Hayes' backhanded centering attempt from behind the goal line.

O'Connor then cradled an outlet pass off the boards from Sebastian Owuya, and scored on a shorthanded breakaway with a wrist shot through Chris Carozzi's five hole for a 2-0 Thunder lead with 6:35 left in the period.

Ontario got back in the game on Derek Couture's ninth goal of the season with 26.8 seconds left in the period, slicing the Thunder lead to 2-1 when his banked pass from behind the left goal line caromed off traffic in the crease and towards the back of the net.

Geoff Irwin tied the game, 2-2 at 5:34 of the second period when he converted on a second chance bid off the right goal post from close range.

Foreman restored the lead at 3-2 with 3:20 left in the period on a 5-on-3 goal, taking Bretton Cameron's feed at the left circle and firing a wrist shot over Carozzi's right shoulder.

Kyle Kraemer's second goal of the season tied the game at 3-3 at the 10:22 mark of the third period, when he snuck a backhander past Olivier Roy from between the circles.

Roy turned away 12 shots in the third period an d denied the Reign on a pair of bids in overtime.

In the shootout, the Thunder used Martindale's shootout goal in the first round "" a snap shot to the blocker side of Carozzi "" as enough fuel for the win. Roy sealed the victory when he stopped Matt Tassone at the blocker side in the fifth round.

Carozzi took the loss with 22 stops.
