Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves used a great starting pitching performance as they took down the Trenton Thunder, 5-2, on Tuesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Erie jumped ahead in the top of the first inning against Trenton starter Luis Severino. Harold Castro led off the game with a walk and moved into scoring position on a Jeff McVaney single. Jason Krizan singled home Castro for a 1-0 lead. Dean Green followed with a two-run double down the right field line with his fifth hit of the series, giving Erie a 3-0 lead.

The 'Wolves added to the lead in the top of the seventh against reliever Joel De La Cruz. Connor Harrell singled with one out for his third hit of the night. He moved into scoring position on a Castro knock and scored on a McVaney single giving the 'Wolves a 4-0 lead.

In the eighth, Wade Gaynor snapped an 0-for-8 skid in the series when he blasted a solo home run to left, his first, for a 5-0 lead. The SeaWolves are now 6-1 in games where they hit at least one home run.

Trenton's lone runs came in the bottom of the eighth against Erie reliever Guido Knudson. Kundson worked a 1-2-3 seventh and retired the first two in the eighth before allowing a walk to Jake Cave. Aaron Judge belted a two-run home run to left making it 5-2.

Ryan Perry worked a 1-2-3 ninth, earning his first save since August 1, 2013 while pitching with Double-A Harrisburg (Nationals). That save was also against Trenton.

Erie's starter Chad Green (1-3) was fantastic as he limited the Thunder to just four hits over a season-high six innings of shutout ball, earning his first Double-A win. He walked one and struck out three.
