
Fightins' offense sinks Fisher Cats

The Fightin Phils (15-9) set season-high's in hits and runs scored as they defeated the Fisher Cats (13-13) 11-9 on Tuesday evening. Every Fightin Phil managed to at least record on hit in the game for the first time this season.
The Fightin Phils scored first for the first-time on the home stand in the bottom of the first inning against the Fisher Cats. Roman Quinn led off the inning with a triple off Fisher Cats starter Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-1) then scored on a RBI groundout from KC Serna to give Reading a 1-0 lead. Art Charles hit a solo home run then Brodie Greene added a RBI single to give the Fightin Phils a 3-0 lead.
Reading added more runs in the bottom of the second inning as they scored four more of Bibens-Dirkx to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Art Charles hit a two-run double to score Serna and Aaron Altherr while Cam Perkins hit a two-run home run.
New Hampshire scored a run off Jesse Biddle in the top of the third inning as Matt Newman hit a sacrifice fly to score Jon Berti and cut the Fightins lead to 7-1. The Fisher Cats scored two more runs off Biddle in the top of the fourth as Christian Lopes hit a two-run single to cut the Fightins lead to 7-3. Austin Bibens-Dirkx left the game after three innings as he allowed seven runs off nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
In the bottom of the fourth the Fightin Phils scored two more runs this time off reliever Arik Sikula as Brian Pointer hit a two-run single to extend Reading's lead to 9-3. New Hampshire came back in the top of the fifth inning to chase Biddle of the game by scoring two runs to cut the lead to 9-5 for Reading. Hoby Milner (1-0) entered the game in the fifth inning as Biddle didn't record an out in the inning.
Logan Moore hit a two-run double off Sikula in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Fightin Phils an 11-5 lead. New Hampshire scored a run off Milner in the top of the seventh inning to cut the lead to 11-6 in favor of the Fightins. New Hampshire scored two more runs off Lee Ridenhour in the top of the eighth inning to cut the lead to 11-8 then added another run in the top of the ninth inning off Stephen Shackleford.
Jesse Biddle allowed five runs through four-plus innings as he gave up a season-high ten hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Hoby Milner in his first win allowed just one run through 2 1/3 innings while Lee Ridenhour allowed two runs in 1 1/3 innings. Stephen Shackleford earned his fifth save as eh allowed just one run in 1 1/3 innings.
The Fightin Phils will wrap up their home stand on Wednesday morning at 11:35 am against the Fisher Cats. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 11:05 am. Fans can also watch the game on MiLB.tv beginning at 11:35 am.
