Season Ticket Holders Invited To Scrimmage Vs. Stockton

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - If you're a Bakersfield Condors season ticket holder then you're in for a special treat. The Condors are holding an informal scrimmage against the Stockton Thunder on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at the Rabobank Arena. Season ticket holders ONLY will be allowed to attend the match, which begins at 2 p.m.

Doors will open at 1:45 p.m. and the game is scheduled to last roughly two hours. The Condors and Thunder will hold a short warm-up prior to the contest and then promptly begin the game, which will either consist of three 20-minute periods or three 15- minute periods. Concessions will not be available at the scrimmage.

Season ticket holders will be admitted free of charge by presenting their Season Ticket Holder ID Card, which will be available for pick-up at the Condors Open House on Sunday, Oct. 8. Season ticket holders not able to attend the Open House may stop by the Condors front office to pickup their ID card.

The Condors officially start their on-ice workouts for the 2006-07 season on Friday, Oct. 6 at the Bakersfield Ice Center, located at 1325 Q Street. A full training camp schedule and roster will be announced next week.

One Condor who's already started training this season is defenseman Scott Balan, who re-signed with Bakersfield in early August. Balan is in camp with the American Hockey League's Manchester Monarchs, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings. Manchester, which began its training camp on Sunday, has two other ex-Condors on their roster, goaltenders Yutaka Fukufuji and Ryan Munce.

Fans interested in seeing the current Condors will have their chance at the annual Open House and Family Day, set for Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Bakersfield Ice Center. The event will run from Noon to 3 p.m. and is once again sponsored by KGET-TV 17. Admission is free with the donation of two-or-more canned food items, benefiting the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter.

The team will hold a full work-out from Noon to 1:15 p.m. followed by formal on-ice player introductions from 1:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fans are invited to stay, as the Ice Sports Center will then hold a free public skating session from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. where fans can take the ice with the Condors players. Fans are encouraged to bring their own skates or rent them for a $3 fee (based on availability). Season ticket holders will also be able to pick up their ticket books during the event.

Bakersfield also has two official preseason games set against the Long Beach Ice Dogs on Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14. The Oct. 13 contest will be a 7:30 p.m. start at the Glacial Gardens in Lakewood, Calif. (the Ice Dogs' practice facility). The Oct. 14 match will be at the Rabobank Arena and start at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $10 for lower level seating and $5 for upper bowl seating.
