Wheeling Nailers News Release
Wheeling, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announce today that they have signed forward Mat Goody.
The 6-foot-2, 250-pound native of Brighton, Ontario played parts of last season with the Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League, the Richmond Riverdogs of the United Hockey League and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
"I'm excited to come to Wheeling," Goody said. "They've been competitive the past couple of years and I know I can add something to the team."
In 51 games with Richmond, the 24-year-old racked up 322 penalty minutes. He added 21 PIM in five games with Providence.
"We needed somebody with the toughness of Mat," head coach Glenn Patrick said. "We had team toughness last season, but there were situations when we could have used a guy like him."
Individual game tickets are on sale now. They are available for purchase at the Nailers team store located in their office at 1315 Main St. in downtown Wheeling, by calling 304-234-GOAL or online at www.WheelingNailers.com.
