Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (30-29) notched their largest win of the season in a 14-2 blowout over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (23-33), earning their first win in the series. The Storm Chasers set season highs in both hits (19) and runs (14), with eight players putting together multi-hit games.

The rout was on early as the Storm Chasers rallied for seven runs in the second, their largest run total in an inning this season, and the scoring broke a 14-inning scoreless streak for the Omaha offense. Dusty Coleman knocked in two runs on a double, Paulo Orlando had a RBI, then Cheslor Cuthbert hit a three-run homer to cap off the frame. After scoring in the third and the fourth, the Storm Chasers set the new high in runs with a four-run seventh inning with four different players collecting a RBI.

Coleman chipped in a home run in that seventh inning, and all six of hits at Werner Park this season have gone for extra bases. Brett Eibner was also one of the four players for the Storm Chasers to drive in multiple runs, and now has a team-leading 28 RBI in only 30 games played. The Omaha offense had only 13 total runs in their last three home games before the outburst, and was one of only two teams in the Pacific Coast League that had not scored more than ten runs in a game this season.

Lost in the offense's numbers was a solid performance from Omaha starter Yohan Pino, who did not allow a run in his six innings of work. After allowing 17 runs in three starts during the month of May, Pino has given up only two runs in 12.0 innings in his two June starts. The Sky Sox spoiled the shutout with a two-run homer in the eighth off reliever Buddy Baumann, one of only six hits allowed by the Storm Chasers and the only hit for extra bases.

Omaha will look for the series split as they send out Royals LHP Danny Duffy on a MLB Rehab start, and he will face off with Colorado Springs RHP Josh Roenicke (3-2, 4.35 ERA). First pitch for the series finale on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and MiLB.TV is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
