DES MOINES, Iowa (June 8, 2015) - Iowa pitchers held the Memphis Redbirds (31-28) to just seven baserunners and Rafael Lopez hit a pinch-hit, game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give the Iowa Cubs (30-27) a 2-1 victory in Pacific Coast League action at Principal Park Monday night.

Right-hander Dallas Beeler was nearly perfect in his scoreless 6.0 innings of work, allowing one hit while striking out eight and not surrendering a walk. It was the first time on the year he didn't walk a batter. It was his second quality start of the year.

Beeler left the game eligible for the win with Iowa leading 1-0 after Arismendy Alcantara scored on a fielding error by Redbirds third baseman Ty Kelly in the first inning.

Left-hander Drake Britton (2-3) surrendered a leadoff single to Stephen Piscotty to begin the seventh. Piscotty then came around to score two batters later on Xavier Scruggs' RBI-double to knot the game 1-1.

Britton settled in during the eighth, throwing a scoreless frame before Iowa took the lead in its half of the inning on Lopez's go-ahead single down the left field line to drive in Rubi Silva. The eventual game winning-hit came off reliever Miguel Socolovich (1-1) who allowed two hits and one earned run in 1.0 inning.

Right-hander Brian Schlittler worked around two walks to wrap up the save in the ninth, his fourth of the season.

Memphis starter Zach Petrick took a tough no-decision despite throwing 7.0 innings of two-hit baseball. He allowed one unearned run with two strikeouts.

Alcantara had the lone extra-base hit for Iowa, going 1-for-4 with a double and one run scored.

Greg Garcia went 1-for-3 with a walk to extend his hitting streak to eight games for Memphis.

Iowa and Memphis play the final game of a four-game set Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 12:08 p.m. CT. Left-hander Eric Jokisch (3-2, 3.66) is scheduled to take the mound for Iowa opposite Redbirds left-hander Nick Greenwood (3-1, 8.25). The game can be heard live on AM 940, 104.5 FM, and live-streamed at Iowacubs.com. The On-Deck Circle Pre-game Show will begin 11:40 a.m. CT.
