GREENSBORO, N.C. - Lakewood's offense scored 13 runs and went 1-3 on the first four games of the current seven-game road trip before exploding in a 15-9 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers Friday night.

Thirteen times this season Lakewood has hit two homers in a game, but in hitter-friendly NewBridge Bank Park the BlueClaws connected for four homers. Brock Stassi (3), Kelly Dugan (12), Miguel Alvarez (1) and Maikel Franco (13) each hit two-run home runs in a season-high 15-run outburst.

The BlueClaws scored multiple runs in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th innings to build a steady lead over the 'Hoppers early in support of Ethan Stewart who was able to get through just 2.2 innings while allowing three runs in his first start since July 24th.

The BlueClaws have combined for 21 runs in a ballgame with their opponent twice this season - most recently, July 2nd- before Lakewood and Greensboro combined for 24 runs Friday night.

With the win, Lakewood remains 2.5 games behind Hagerstown for first place in the South Atlantic League North Division and hold sole possession of fourth place behind Hagerstown, West Virginia and Hickory.

The BlueClaws and Grasshoppers battle in the third game of their four-game series Saturday with Lakewood sending lefty Lino Martinez (6-5, 5.78) against Greensboro's Andrew Heaney (0-1, 11.25).

First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
