
Big 8th Inning Wraps up 17-8 Win for Rome

(ROME, Ga.) The Lexington Legends cut an early seven-run deficit down to two in the top of the eighth inning, but the Rome Braves scored eight runs in the bottom of the eighth on their way to a 17-8 victory Friday night.
The win puts the Legends six and one-half games behind the first-place Braves in the South Atlantic League Southern Division standings.
Robby Hefflinger hit a three-run homer for Rome in the eighth. Tony Mueller had four hits in five at-bats and scored three runs for Rome.
Rome led 9-2 after three innings, but the Legends scored two runs in the fifth inning, two in the sixth and one in the eighth to cut the lead to 9-7. The Legends had the tying run on base in the top of the eighth.
The Braves have taken the first two games in the four-game series. Game time Saturday night is 7 p.m.
