Suns Bewilder Shorebirds in 5-1 Win

Salisbury, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (72-50/30-23) dominated the Delmarva Shorebirds (48-75/20-34) in a 5-1 win at Perdue Stadium on Friday night.

Suns' starting pitcher Wirkin Estevez (5-1) earned the win in his first start for Hagerstown since May 14th, allowing one run on two hits, three walks and three strike outs. Ben Hawkins and Alex Kreis each pitched two perfect innings behind Estevez, resulting in 14 consecutive outs (4.2 perfect innings) to end the game. Kreis (2) was awarded the save.

Cutter Dykstra's first inning three-run homer, his sixth of the season, was the eventual game winner in a two-hit performance. Catcher Adrian Nieto went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Shorebirds' starter Juan Guzman (1-2) suffered the loss after allowing four runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Left fielder Mikey Planeta brought in the team's only run with an RBI sacrifice fly.

The Suns will send RHP Taylor Jordan (1-2, 4.29) to the mound in game here of the series tomorrow night against Delmarva's RHP Miguel Chalas (9-6, 5.05) at 7:05 p.m.
