
Sea Dogs With Some Fireworks Once Again, Win 5-1

(Portland, ME) - Dave Gassner (1-4) pitched six innings on one run and Jeff Corsaletti blasted a 3-run homer in 8th inning, aiding the Sea Dogs (48-37) to a 5-1 win over the Reading Phillies (35-51) on Saturday night at Hadlock Field.
Portland has won 4 of 5 and the first two games of their 4-game set with the Phillies.
Reading's Edgar Garcia (0-1) fired six innings on two runs and five hits but suffered the loss. Garcia made his Double-A debut, walking two and fanning three.
Portland's bullpen of Chad Rhoades (2 IP, 5 SO) and Mike James (perfect ninth) worked the final three frames without allowing a hit and recorded six strikeouts. Rhoades worked out of a jam in the seventh after two walks with one out. The righty retired Javon Moran on a groundout and fanned Jason Donald.
Reading took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off Gassner. Mike Eylward doubled home Neil Sellers with two outs. Portland took the lead for good in the third inning. Mickey Hall followed Ryan Khoury's double with a run-scoring, 2-base hit down the right-field line. Hall was thrown at third base tyring in his attempt for a triple. The next batter, Tony Granadillo launched a solo-homer over the wall in left-center field.
In the eighth inning, Joe Bisenius opened up the frame by walking Hall and Granadillo. Corsaletti sent a 1-2 pitch over the right-field wall for his 10th homer of the season.

Notes...Corsaletti extended his hitting streak to 9-games...Gassner made just his second start at Hadlock Field...The top four hitters for Portland had six of the seven hits.
