Sea Dogs Rally for 6-3 Win Over Yard Goats

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs (31-32, 71-61) complete the eighth-inning comeback with 6-3 win over the Hartford Yard Goats (26-36, 55-74) on Tuesday night.
Top prospects Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel both recorded base hits in their Hadlock Field debuts. Chase Meidroth and Blaze Jordan both recorded multi-hit games going two-for-three and two-for-four respectively while Nathan Hickey tallied three RBI. Ryan Miller earned his fifth win of the season with a scoreless eighth while Alex Hoppe earned his second save with a perfect ninth.
Hartford took the 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning after a two-run homer off the bat of Bladimir Restituyo.
The Yard Goats plated another run in the top of the fifth after Ryan Ritter worked a leadoff walk before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt. Ritter advanced on a groundout before coming home to score on a fielder's choice.
Portland erupted for six runs in the fifth to take the 6-3 lead. Three walks loaded the bases before Chase Meidroth put Portland on the board with an RBI single. Nathan Hickey cleared the bases with his fifteenth double of the season to put Portland on top for the first time, 5-3. Blaze Jordan laced a double (9) of his own to score Hickey and Portland led 6-3.
Portland reliever RHP Ryan Miller (5-3, 4.24 ERA) earned the win after pitching 1.0 scoreless inning allowing one walk while striking out one. Alex Hoppe (2) earned the save with a perfect ninth inning in relief. The loss was issued to Hartford reliever RHP Juan Mejia (1-3, 6.14 ERA) after pitching 1.0 inning allowing four runs on one hit while walking four and striking out one.
The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field tomorrow, September 13th for game two of a six-game series against the Hartford Yard Goats. First pitch for game two is slated for 6:00pm. Portland will start RHP Isaac Coffey (6-4, 3.71 ERA) while Hartford will give the ball to RHP Case Williams (1-10, 6.73 ERA).
