Portland Sea Dogs News Release

The Portland Sea Dogs had their five-game winning streak snapped on Friday night, losing to the New Britain Rock Cats, 4-0 at Hadlock Field. Errol Simonitsch improved to 4-3 by working seven scoreless innings. David Pauley (2-3) suffered the loss, despite working a season-high eight innings.

Pauley allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits one walk and struck out four. He earned his 8th quality start in 10 appearances.

Matt Moses led the offensive charge for the Rock Cats, knocking the game's first run in the first inning and blasting a two-run homer in the third. New Britain added a run off Pauley in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by Denard Span.

The Sea Dogs didn't move a runner past first base, receiving two of their three hits from Tyler Minges. Brandon Moss reached on an infield single after lining one off Simonitsch's left leg. The lefthander left the game and was relieved by Levale Speigner, who worked the final two innings.

Notes...Pauley worked eight innings for the second time in his career (August 22, 2004)...Minges extended his hitting streak to six-games...Chris Durbin returned to the lineup after missing over a month with an oblique injury and went 0-for-3.
