New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH -Adam Lind went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and raced home from third base on a bases-loaded wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats rallied past the Harrisburg Senators, 5-4, Friday night at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium.
Lind led off the bottom of the 10th inning with his second double of the game, a line shot to deep centerfield that glanced off the glove of Harrisburg centerfielder Ryan Church. Losing pitcher Chris Thompson (0-1) walked David Smith and yielded an infield single to Maikel Jova to load the bases. Manny Mayorson swung at Thompson's first pitch, but the ball skipped in the dirt past catcher Salomon Manriquez, allowing Lind to cross the plate.
With Harrisburg (24-23) leading 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Lind stroked a two-out, two-run double off left-hander Brett Nyquist to score Brad Hassey (single) and newcomer Tony Miller (walk), cutting the Fisher Cats' deficit to 4-3.
New Hampshire (18-27) tied the game, 4-4, on Vito Chiaravalloti's deep sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning off Thompson that scored Smith, who was pinch running for Chip Cannon.
Left-hander Jim Bullard (2-1) struck out the only batter he faced in the top of the 10th inning to record the victory.
Starter Kyle Yates, making his first start since being recalled from Single-A Dunedin, pitched a season-high seven innings. He allowed three runs on five hits, walked three and notched a season-best seven strikeouts. Yates allowed a first-inning RBI single to Church, a two-run double to Ian Desmond in the fourth and a Jesus Feliciano sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Tracy Thorpe followed Yates with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief before giving way to Bullard.
The Fisher Cats improved to 1-24 in games they trailed after seven innings, and the three-run deficit overcome in a victory was the largest of the season.
New Hampshire looks to extend its winning streak to three games when righty Mike MacDonald (4-2, 3.38) pitches against former Fisher Cat Kip Bouknight (2-3, 3.73) Saturday afternoon at 1:05pm. As with all Saturday home games, fans are invited to play catch on the field after the game. To purchase tickets, visit www.nhfishercats.com, or call (603) 641-2005.
