Harrisburg Senators News Release
Today's Game... The Senators begin an 11-game in 10-day road trip tonight in New Hampshire. The Senators and Fisher Cats played a three-game series earlier this season at Commerce Bank Park in April. The Senators swept that three-game series from New Hampshire. This is the second and final series of the season between these two foes. RHP Beltran Perez will go for the Senators as they try to win their second straight road game.
Last Time Out... The Senators enjoyed an afternoon win on Thursday over the Erie SeaWolves by a final score of 7-5. Ryan Church hit two solo home runs and Josh Whitesell added his team leading seventh home run to the cause, also a solo shot, powering the Sens to the win. The big hit in the game, though, wasn't a home run, it was a two-run single off the bat Rich Lane capping off the Senators threerun sixth inning. Dan Kolb picked up the win in relief and Roy Corcoran recorded the final seven outs for his league leading 13th save of the season.
Walk Off's... The Senators have enjoyed four walk-off wins at home this season. With two of their three wins against Akron over the weekend coming in walk-off fashion.
Double Dips... After not winning a game last year in any of the four doubleheader's they participated in, the Senators are now 4-2 this season. The doubleheader sweep of Akron was their first doubleheader sweep since August 5, 2004 when they took two from Reading.
Upcoming Road Trip... The road trip beginning tonight in New Hampshire is the longest in several seasons for the Senators. The Sens play New Hampshire, New Britain, and Binghamton on the trip and will play 11 games in 10 days due to the day/night doubleheader next Wednesday in New Britain. It's the longest road trip for the Senators since the 2002 season when they had a 12-game trip, but even that trip was broken up by the three-day all-star break.
Heading to DC... When Alex Escobar was called up to the Nationals over the weekend he became the third Senators player in the past two seasons to go directly from Harrisburg to Washington. Last year Ryan Zimmerman and Darrell Rasner went directly to the Nationals.
