NEWS AND NOTES

BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN:The Sea Dogs return home after an 8-game roadtrip, taking on the Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies affiliate) on Saturday night at Hadlock Field...Portland finished 2-6 on the trip, winning both series openers at Reading and New Hampshire...This series marks the final time the two teams will meet in Maine this season - Portland travels to Reading on July 7-9...The 'Dogs are 20 games under .500 for the first time since they were 59-83 to close out the 2011 season.

ALL CATS ON FRIDAY: New Hampshire scored closed out the series with three straight wins, taking Friday's contest 9-0 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium...Ryan Schimpf went 1-for-3 with a 2-run homer and a sac-fly...Dalton Pompey had two his and scored three runs...Jon Berti and K.C. Hobson each drove in two runs...Austin Bibens-Dirxk pitched six innings on one hit and six strikeouts...Kyle Kraus (0-1) took the loss in a spot-start, giving up four runs (one earned) over 4 IP...Portland had just five hits and were shutout for the 10th time this season.
