Harrisburg Senators News Release
Harrisburg, Pa. - The Mark L. Butler Foundation today announces collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Senators in a program called "Butler's Bunch" to offer local youth opportunities to attend baseball games as a reward for positive behavior and good choices.
The "Butler's Bunch" program includes complimentary ticket packages to 16 Harrisburg Senators home baseball games at Metro Bank Park throughout the remainder of the 2015 season. Ticket packages will be available for 50 children per game, plus chaperones, allowing up to 800 youth to participate this season. Each ticket package includes a game ticket, dinner voucher redeemable at the ballpark, custom t-shirt and transportation to and from the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg. To be eligible, youth must be members of or invited by the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg and demonstrate positive behavior and good choices by meeting a list of expectations that the Club has put in place.
"The Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg is a positive, safe place for kids after school and during the summer months," said Executive Director Yvonne Hollins. "We provide our members with resources to become positive, productive citizens. We encourage, demonstrate and recognize positive attitudes and behaviors. We are excited to be a part of Butler's Bunch. We look forward to many positive experiences that we will have during the summer months."
The Mark L. Butler Foundation is funding the entire program. The first game took place on Tuesday, June 16. The "Butler's Bunch" section of seating will be adjacent to Ollie's Bargain Outlet Cheap Seats. Additional games are scheduled throughout June, July and August.
The Mark L. Butler Foundation was founded in 2012 by local resident and business owner Mark Butler with the purpose of providing underprivileged children with opportunities to succeed in life. Mark Butler also recently acquired majority ownership of the Harrisburg Senators.
"I'm fortunate to have this opportunity to bring local kids to the ballpark to enjoy a game," said Butler. "While it might not seem like a big deal to some, understand that many of these kids have never had this opportunity. Not only do they get to come out and see a game, but we're providing them with some great food and a free t-shirt too. That's pretty cool. This is a great way for me to give back to the community and expose kids to the tremendous game of baseball that I've loved being a part of. I'm looking forward to it."
"I'm thrilled to spearhead this project on behalf of my father and family," said Brooke Butler Romito, director of the Mark L. Butler Foundation. "I know how much my kids enjoy attending the games, so it's wonderful that we get to share these experiences with the kids in our local community."
