Harrisburg Senators News Release

Timely hitting and solid pitching continued to be the formula Monday night as the Harrisburg Senators won their sixth straight, 4-2, over the Altoona Curve at Metro Bank Park. Harrisburg (36-41) swept the three-game series with the Curve by four runs.

Altoona jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, but in the bottom of the third, Wilmer Difo walked and Chris Bostick reached on an error before Matt Skole drove both in with a two-run single. Skole, who now has 44 RBI this season, has driven in half of his season total in the month of June. Altoona tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth, but Harrisburg responded quickly. Cutter Dykstra doubled with two outs, pitcher Matthew Spann walked, and Difo singled in Dykstra to make it 3-2, Senators. Shawn Pleffner extended Harrisburg's lead to two in the sixth inning with a pinch-hit, RBI triple into the right-center field alley.

Isaac Ballou was 2-for-4 in his second Double-A game. He also stole a base, and was one of four Senators to steal a base Monday night.

Spann turned in a quality start Monday, going six innings and allowing two runs on five hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Erik Davis picked up his first hold with Harrisburg in 2015 by pitching a scoreless seventh and eighth inning. Gilberto Mendez earned his seventh save in eight chances with a perfect ninth inning.

The Senators welcome in Richmond Tuesday night to begin a four-game series with first pitch at 7:00 p.m. The pregame show will start at 6:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
