Sea Dogs Fall to Fightins 12-2

Portland, Maine - The Reading Fightin Phils (35-18) scored seven times in the fourth inning and ran away with a 12-2 victory over the Sea Dogs (18-34) on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.

Reading finished the game with 12 hits, including six doubles, a triple, and two home runs. Roman Quinn led off the game with a homer for the second straight night.

With the game tied 1-1 to start the fourth, Jake Fox led off with a walk issued by Teddy Stankiewicz (L, 1-5). After Angelo Mora popped out, Carlos Alonso, Aaron Brown, KC Serna, and Roman Quinn each doubled consecutively to make it 5-1. Next Jesmuel Valentin singled to make it 6-1, then later scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 7-1. Christian Marrero capped off the inning with a solo homer and put Reading up 8-1.

Stankiewicz matched a season-high with eight runs allowed on nine hits in 3.2 innings. He struck out four and walked two.

Mark Leiter Jr. (W, 1-0) went five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits while walking none and striking out five. Gregory Infante and Jeremy Bleich combined to pitch the final four innings and allow just one hit.

The Sea Dogs scored their runs on an RBI double by Tzu-Wei Lin in the third and a sac fly by Aneury Tavarez in the fourth. Lin has an RBI in three consecutive games.
