Altoona's Cody Dickson worked five scoreless innings to earn his fourth win of the season and the RubberDucks stranded 13 baserunners as the Curve took game two of a three-game series, 2-0, on Wednesday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

The Curve broke a scoreless tied in the top of the third inning as Eric Wood lead off the inning by driving a solo home run over the fence in center. The home run was Wood's fifth on the season and gave the Curve a lead that they would not relinquish. Wood's homer was only the second home run that Michael Peoples has allowed all season.

Winging It

Peoples came out strong again, working six solid innings. The right-hander allowed four hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out three and walking one for the RubberDucks. Peoples gave up his lone earned run on a solo homer by Altoona's Eric Wood in the top of the third. Louis Head came on in the seventh and worked two strong innings allowing only one hit while striking out one and walking none. J.P Feyereisen worked the ninth and struck out two while allowing a hit and walking none.

Duck Tales

Clint Frazier was 2-for-5 in the game to increase his average to .314, good for second-best in the Eastern League. Eric Haase and Todd Hankins each delivered a single and Jeremy Lucas went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk as the "Ducks had only five hits on the contest. Mike Papi went 0-for-2 and walked twice in his debut after being promoted from Lynchburg.

Notebook

The RubberDucks were shut out for just the second time this season, the other coming in a 2-0 loss at the hands of Trenton April 22... Akron has now lost three of four games at home... The Curve are now 4-8 against the "Ducks this season ...Cody Dickson worked five scoreless innings, allowing five hits, four walks and striking out three... Brett McKinney worked a scoreless sixth and seventh for his fifth hold of the year and Josh Smith finished the game with a scoreless eighth and ninth to earn his second save of the season... Time of game 2:34... Attendance 3.773.

On Deck

The RubberDucks and Curve will close out their three-game series Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. LHP Anderson Polanco is the announced starter for Akron, and RHP Clay Holmes is expected to get the ball for the Curve. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App.
