Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

ERIE, PA - Casey Delgado fired eight innings of one-run ball and the Binghamton Mets backed him with 13 hits in a 6-1 win over the Erie SeaWolves on Wednesday night at Jerry Uht Park. Derrik Gibson compiled his second straight four-hit game, finished a homer shy of the cycle and drove in three runs to guide the B-Mets to consecutive victories for the first time in two weeks.

Delgado opened his fifth career Double-A starter by sailing through a perfect first inning. The righty used a pair of double plays to erase leadoff walks in the second and third.

The twin-killing in the third started an extended cruise for Delgado. The righty put down 13 of the next 14 batters he faced, carrying the game into the seventh inning. Corey Jones snapped the stretch with a solo homer, but Delgado bounced back with two strikeouts in the eighth to cap his night.

For the second straight night, Gibson led the offensive charge from the leadoff spot. The third baseman started the game with a double and came home when Phillip Evans pelted the left-field wall with a double. Gibson struck again in Binghamton's three-run fourth inning by slicing a two-run triple into the right-field corner.

Dominic Smith provided the only hit from the heart of the B-Mets batting order by doubling in the seventh. The B-Met first baseman collected his team-leading 34th RBI on a run-producing fielder's choice in the ninth.

Delgado (3-2) struck out seven and allowed one run on three hits in his second win in as many starts. He never faced more than four batters in any inning and only let two SeaWolves get past first base. Tim Peterson closed Binghamton's pitching tab with a perfect ninth.

SeaWolves starter Cory Riordan (3-4) was touched for five runs on ten hits over 5-1/3 innings.

The B-Mets (21-30) conclude their final series in Erie in 2016 on Thursday at 11:05 AM. RHP Mickey Jannis gets the nod against RHP Myles Jaye. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show can be heard starting at 10:50 AM on ESPN 1360 WYOS and the Binghamton Mets channel on TuneIn.
