The Portland Sea Dogs and Trenton Thunder split a doubleheader on Wednesday night in front of 5,015 at Hadlock Field. Trenton took game one, 4-0, but Portland capped off the night with a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.

With the doubleheader split and a Connecticut loss to New Hampshire, the Sea Dogs remain a full game in front of the Defenders for the top spot in the Northern Division.

In the twinbill opener, Trenton starter Steven White (4-1) hurled a 3-hit, complete game shutout on three walks and four strikeouts. Portland left a runner in every inning without one reaching scoring position. White improved to 2-1 in six career starts against Portland.

Mike Rozier made his Double-A debut for the Sea Dogs due to the promotion of David Pauley to Boston. The 20-year old lefty suffered the loss, working five innings, surrendering four runs (one earned); one walk and fanned eight (career high).

Shelley Duncan broke the ice, blasting a home run over the Maine Monster in straight away left. Trenton added an unearned run in the third inning and two in the fourth. Felix Esacalona and Bronson Sardinha added RBI's.

Portland scored four times off Jeremy King (2-3) in the first two innings to secure the game two win. Jeremy West and Chad Spann smacked RBI doubles and Brandon Moss added a sacrifice fly. In the second inning, Tyler Minges delivered a two-out, run scoring single to score Alberto Concepcion.

Devern Hansack (2-2) earned his first win as a reliever, working three scoreless innings on four hits and three strikeouts. Charlie Zink made the start for Portland, working four innings on two hits and two runs but only one was earned.

Notes...Zink was added to the roster in-between games with Rozier sent back to Single-A Greenville...Alberto Concepcion and Brandon Moss have season high hitting streaks - Moss at seven and Concepcion at five...Victor Ramos worked two scoreless innings in relief of Rozier in game one.
