
Scrappers Split Doubleheader Against ValleyCats

Troy, New York - Three Scrappers pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout and the Scrappers defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats, 4-0, in game two of the doubleheader to earn a split.
Danny Jimenez started and threw five shutout innings, improving to 2-3 with the win. Grant Sides followed and pitched two-thirds of an inning before Enosil Tejeda came on for a four-out save.
Mahoning Valley had just one hit and one run through the first six innings. Bryson Myles doubled to lead off the game and scored on a passed ball. It was the only run of the game until the seventh, when the Scrappers scored three runs on a triple by Cody Elliott, a single by Jerrud Sabourin and a ground out by Tony Wolters.
In the first game, Mahoning Valley led 2-0 before Tri-City took the lead with three runs in the fifth. The Scrappers tied the game with two outs in the top of the last inning, but ValleyCats outfielder Chris Epps led off the bottom of the seventh with a walkoff home run.
The Scrappers and ValleyCats will conclude their three-game series on Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
