Jamestown Jammers News Release

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Jammers will be holding a mystery ball fundraiser at Friday night's game against the Lowell Spinners.

During the game, fans will have an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets, which will then be used to select the winner of a wrapped autographed "mystery baseball." Proceeds from the event will go to the New York-Penn League Charitable Foundation, which gives away over $10,000 each year in scholarships to help deserving high school seniors attend college.

"The league office asked each team to hold a fundraiser to help support the foundation, and we decided to give fans something they could really get excited about," Jamestown Jammers front office associate and event organizer Robert Calph said. "We've received some fantastic baseballs of past, current and hopefully future baseball greats thanks to the incredible outpouring of support we received from other teams."

Nearly 50 baseballs will be raffled off including baseballs signed by Hall of Famer Goose Goosage, 2009 NL Rookie of the Year Chris Coghlan, Flordia Marlins manager Jack McKeon, 1983 World Series champion Dennis Martinez, New York Mets Hall of Famer Mookie Wilson, Florida Marlins outfielders Mike Stanton and Logan Morrison, Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Pedro Alvarez and several other former, current and possible future MLB stars.

A "Ultimate Jammers Pack" will also be auctioned off. It includes a 2011 team signed jersey, a Jamestown Falcons hat, a Lucy Desi hat and two club level tickets to the Sept. 3 game against Mahoning Valley.

Tickets for the raffle are $1 for one ticket, $2 for three tickets and $5 for ten tickets, and fans can win multiple baseballs with their tickets.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday.
