Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, SK - Ian Scott did a bit of everything on Friday night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick was stellar between the pipes, making 23 saves to give the Prince Albert Raiders (19-1-0-0) a 3-1 win over the Tri-City Americans (12-7-0-0) at the Art Hauser Centre.

Oh, and he scored a goal.

With 16 seconds left on the clock, Scott took aim at Tri-City's empty net and fired the puck from behind his own red line, over three jumping Americans, and into the opposing goal. He's the first WHL goaltender to score a goal since Stuart Skinner of the Lethbridge Hurricanes in March of 2016.

The game started with the Raiders turning defence into offence in the first period. The Raiders penalty killers generated three chances on the same power play, but were unable to solve Beck warm.

In the second, the Americans pushed back. Sasha Mutala made a quick deke around Raiders captain Brayden Pachal, but Scott slammed the door. Later in the frame, the Raiders had another great shorthanded chance. Noah Gregor and Kody McDonald broke in on a two-on-none rush. The two passed the puck between each other, but Warm's blocker kept it a scoreless game after two periods.

Tri-City opened the scoring 1:11 into the third period, snapping a streak of eight consecutive games the Raiders scored first. Krystof Hrabik recovered a blocked shot and beat Scott to make it 1-0.

Less than five minutes later, the Raiders tied it. After Hrabik was whistled for high sticking Brett Leason, the two former Americans on the Raiders connected. Leason won the ensuing faceoff to Sergei Sapego, who snapped a quick shot past Warm to level the score.

About a minute later, the Raiders took the lead. Brayden Pachal crept in from the point and wired a shot past Warm for his second of the year. Gregor and McDonald, who were buzzing all game, picked up the assists.

That set the stage for Scott's goal. The Americans dumped the puck into the Raiders' end with the extra attacker out. Scott collected it behind the net and let it rip.

With his performance in goal, Scott earned his 16th win of the year. Warm made 27 saves in a losing effort for the Americans.

The Raiders hit the road for the first time in nearly a month, travelling to Brandon tomorrow night to take on the Wheat Kings (10-4-3-3) at Westoba Place. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The next Raiders' home game is on Tuesday night against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (9-6-2-2).Tickets are available at the Raider Office and at raiderhockey.com. Game time is 7 p.m.
