Scott Rozendal Announces Retirement

WICHITA, KS- Thunder forward Scott Rozendal announced his retirement today in order to pursue a career outside of hockey.

Rozendal played four seasons of pro hockey, three of which were spent in a Thunder uniform. He appeared in 184 career games, scoring 47 goals and 93 points, while picking up 362 PIM. Rozendal first joined the Thunder in 2005-06 after a brief stint with the ECHL's Fresno Falcons. The following season, Rozendal scored a career-high 20 goals for Wichita.

Originally from Goderich, Ontario, Rozendal played two seasons of college hockey in Canada at the University of Guelph. Now 27 years old, Rozendal was well known for his philanthropic work in the Wichita community. He twice earned the Thunder's annual award for community service.

The Thunder opens the 2009-10 season on Friday, October 16th when they host the Amarillo Gorillas at the Kansas Coliseum. Season ticket packages are on sale now. The Thunder hosts two exhibition contests against the expansion Missouri Mavericks on October 9th and 10th at the Wichita Ice Center. All seats are just $10.00 general admission.
