Jackalopes Participate in MDA Telethon on Labor Day

(Odessa, TX) - On Labor Day the Odessa Jackalopes hit the phones and took pledges from the Permian Basin community to raise money for the "Jerry's Kids" charity during the MDA Telethon. Jacks players Sebastien Thinel and Phil Plante, General Manager Joe Clark, Broadcaster Brien Rea, and Director of Community Relations Kyle Rodgers all appeared on the local Midland/Odessa NBC affiliate to support the cause.
"It's a great cause for kids that we were apart of last year and wanted to be apart of again this year," said Clark. "This effort raises a lot of money every year and we're happy just to be involved with it and do what we can to help."
Yesterday's telethon raised a total of $356,614 for "Jerry's Kids", which will go to research, flu shots, and send kids that suffer from Muscular Dystrophy to summer camp.
"With things like these every little bit helps, and I'm glad the team was able to contribute on things. We had a lot of fun," said Plante.
The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team will begin its 13th season on October 16th against the Corpus Christ IceRays.
