Schmaltz Moves to NHL

GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves announced Wednesday that defenseman Jordan Schmaltz has been recalled from loan by the St. Louis Blues.
This is Schmaltz's first NHL recall this season, and the 23-year-old from Verona, Wisconsin, could make his National Hockey League debut.
This season, Schmaltz has skated in 42 games for Chicago and collected 25 points (3G, 22A). On Feb. 26, he recorded his first professional three-point game with three assists in the Wolves' 4-3 overtime victory against the Iowa Wild.
Schmaltz also spent the 2015-16 season with the Wolves, and he was the club's top-scoring defenseman and rookie with six goals and 30 assists for 36 points. He was also just the fifth rookie in team history to lead the defensive corps in scoring. He made his professional debut on Oct. 10, 2014, against the Milwaukee Admirals.
Prior to joining the Wolves, Schmaltz skated three seasons at the University of North Dakota. Schmaltz appeared in two Frozen Four tournaments (2014, 2015) and helped the now-Fighting Hawks secure the 2014-15 National Collegiate Hockey Conference regular-season title.
The Blues selected Schmaltz in the first round, 25th overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Chicago will be without Schmaltz as it continues a six-game homestand against the reigning Calder Cup champion Cleveland Monsters on Saturday, March 4. Puck drop for American Girl Night is set for 7 p.m., and the first 5,000 children inside Allstate Arena receive a doll outfit. The contest will be broadcast on CW50 in the Chicago area.
