Schebler's Three Home Runs Extend Winning Streak to 10 Games
August 12, 2014 - Southern League (SL1)
Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
Powered by Scott Schebler's three home run performance, the Chattanooga Lookouts (24-25) blanked the Jacksonville Suns (30-21) to bring their winning streak to 10 straight games.
The stellar performances weren't just on the offensive side, as the Lookouts' pitchers worked together to keep the Suns from scoring. Most of the hard work was done by Andres Santiago (W, 4-7), who had a fantastic outing on the mound for the Lookouts. Santiago stretched his 94 pitches across five innings and set the tone for the rest of the game.
Schebler was on fire the whole game, starting with his first at-bat of the evening. In the first inning, Bobby Coyle Jr. got the first hit of the game and was standing on first base when he watched a ball go deep to right-center field and out of the park off of Schebler's bat.
When Schebler came up to bat in the third, he followed his first blast with another, this time smashing it over the pavilion in right field. He wasn't done, either, as he smacked a shot between the right fielder and the center fielder. As he was heading to third base, Manager Razor Shines aggressively waved him home for an inside-the-park home run. Those three home runs were responsible for all four runs that the Lookouts scored on the night.
Thanks to the Huntsville Stars (25-26) defeating the Tennessee Smokies (25-26) by a 5-2 score, the Lookouts are now tied with both of those teams for the division lead in the second half standings.
The Lookouts will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday night by sending RHP Nick Struck (3-6, 6.27) to face off against Jay Rogers (6-4, 3.62) of the Suns. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
Notes: Schebler is the fifth Lookouts' hitter to have three home runs in a single game. The first to perform the feat was Jim Bloodworth in 1933. The others were: Sal Rende (1979), Joe Charboneau (1973), and Reggie Jefferson (1989).
