Perez Promoted to Triple-A Louisville

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Blue Wahoos' catcher Ross Perez has been promoted to Triple-A Louisville following his fantastic time with Pensacola. Perez was the leading hitter for the Wahoos with MVP caliber numbers, hitting .333 with four home runs and 48 RBI.

Perez put together a 13-game hitting streak from 7/18-8/6, which was the second longest hitting streak in team history. Over the streak, Perez hit .449 (22-for-49) with one home run and 13 RBI. On 6/13 against Mobile, Perez had 6 RBI against his former team, which is a Blue Wahoos record. Perez will be making his Triple-A debut.

The Wahoos received catcher Yovan Gonzalez on Tuesday to replace Perez. Gonzalez hit .242 with one home run and 22 RBI with High-A Bakersfield. Since the All-Star break, Gonzalez has hit .279 with the Blaze. The catcher put together 14 multi-hit contests over 72 games with Bakersfield.

Third baseman Juan Silverio returns to the Wahoos after appearing in 31 games with the Louisville Bats since the Southern League All-Star break. In Silverio's Triple-A debut, he went 5-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. He hit .247 with the Bats with one home run and five RBI. With the Wahoos, Silverio hit .274 with 9 HR and 20 RBI.

In a corresponding move, infielder Ray Chang has been placed on the disabled list.
