CHATTANOOGA, TN - Scott Schebler's trio of home runs powered the Chattanooga Lookouts (24-25, 50-69) to a 4-0 shutout win over the Jacksonville Suns (30-21, 66-55) in Thursday night's series-opening from AT&T Field.
Andres Santiago (W, 4-7) picked up the win for Chattanooga, holding the Suns scoreless on three hits in five innings, issuing four walks and striking out three batters in his winning effort.
Jose Urena (L, 10-8) was dealt the loss for the Suns after getting tagged for four runs (all earned) on seven hits while walking a batter and striking out four Lookouts in five innings of work.
Nick Wittgren was sharp in relief, throwing two scoreless innings while only allowing one hit and one walk.
Jheyson Manzueta retired all three batters he faced, recording one strikeout in his perfect inning of work.
The Lookouts hopped on the scoreboard early on Tuesday, using a Scott Schebler (HR, 22) two-run home run to take an early 2-0 lead after one inning of play.
Schebler (HR, 23) was at it again in the bottom of the third, drilling a solo shot to right to extend Chattanooga's lead to 3-0 after three innings. With his second homer of the day, Schebler passed former Tennessee Smokie Kris Bryant for the Southern League lead in home runs.
Schebler's (HR, 24) monster night continued, with his third home run of the game being of the inside-the-park variety in the bottom of the fifth. The homer put the Lookouts up 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth.
