Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – Goaltender Nolan Schaefer was reassigned to the Fresno Falcons yesterday from the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League.

Schaefer suited up for Fresno last night for the first time since Nov. 22 as the club defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs, 4-3. The fifth-round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft made two starts with the Barons, going 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals against average and .957 save percentage. Last night he played 33:20 and made 16 saves before receiving a game misconduct for leaving the crease and engaging his counterpart from Long Beach in fisticuffs.

With the return of Schaefer, general manager Blaine Moore traded goaltender Will Hamele to the Augusta Lynx in exchange for forward Jim Baker, who was summarily traded to the Florence Pride today in exchange for future considerations.

In a separate move today, Fresno also waived center Jim Leger, who recorded one goal and four assists in 11 games with the team.

SCHEDULE NOTE: TOMORROW'S GAME AGAINST THE IDAHO STEELHEADS BEGINS AT 7:30 P.M. AT SAVE MART CENTER. DOORS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT 6:30 P.M.
