January 2, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The ECHL, America's Premier "AA" Hockey League, announced today that Florence Pride Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Joe Babik will be one of three broadcasters to announce the 2004 ECHL Par-a-Dice Casino All-Star Game. The game takes place on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Carver Arena in Peoria, Illinois. Babik will be joined on the broadcast team by Alaska's Jack Michaels and Peoria's Norm Ulrich.
Babik is in his third season with the Pride. In addition to serving as the team's play-by-play announcer during radio broadcasts of away games, he serves as the team's Director of Media Relations, and is the team's PA announcer at home games. Prior to joining the Pride, the Syracuse University graduate served on the radio broadcast teams of the ECHL's Johnstown Chiefs and the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch.
"This is a great honor for Joe, and one he certainly deserves," Pride Senior Vice President Jack Capuano said. "He is a hard worker, and takes great pride in his work. The entire organization would like to congratulate Joe on this recognition from the ECHL."
"I am honored to be selected as a broadcaster for the All-Star Game," Babik said. "There are a lot of quality broadcasters in the league, and to be chosen from such an elite group is truly an honor."
