
Chiefs Fall In Reading

Reading, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs came up short in their first game in 2004, as they fell on the road 2-1, to the Reading Royals, Friday night at the Sovereign Center.
Reading got on the board first when Lars Petterson scored his second of the season 6:48 into the first period. After a scoreless second period, the Royals made it 2-0 on a Scooter Smith power play goal at 9:17 of the third period. Brent Kelly would close the gap to 2-1 when he answered with his 12th goal of the season just 0:17 later.
Chiefs goaltender Cory Campbell made 34 saves in the defeat while Royals goaltender Terry Deinke made 33 saves.
The Chiefs are now 17-12-3, while Reading is now 17-9-5.
The Chiefs and Royals will face one another again Saturday night in Reading (7:00 p.m.). Sunday afternoon (2:00 p.m.) the Chiefs travel to Atlantic City to take on the Boardwalk Bullies.
