Pride Acquire More Offense
January 2, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today that they have acquired right wing Jack Baker from the Fresno Falcons in exchange for future considerations. Baker will be uniform for the Pride's game tonight in Greensboro.
Baker was dealt from the Augusta Lynx to Fresno, and then immediately traded to the Pride. The Boston native appeared in 27 games with the Lynx this year, posting four goals and 10 assists. Last season, he played the majority of the year in the American Hockey League with the Philadelphia Phantoms, scoring four goals and adding four assists in 30 games.
Prior to turning pro, the 23-year-old played four seasons at Boston University, one of the most successful collegiate programs in the country. In 138 games with the Terriers, he tallied 43 goals and added 48 assists for 91 points.
"Jack has a lot of speed and skill and he can put the puck in the net," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "With the absence of Gervais, Souza and Sutter up front, we have to find goals somewhere."
Florence is in action tonight, traveling to Greensboro for a 7:30 match-up with the Generals. All of the action can be heard on WDAR Sunny 105.5 and www.florencepride.com starting with the Palmetto Chiropractic Pre-Game Show at 7:10. The Pride return home tomorrow night to host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:30, and on Sunday, the Charlotte Checkers are in town for a 2:30 matinee. Sunday is another Sunday Kids' Day at the Lion's Den. All kids 12 and under can purchase tickets for just $2.50, and kids' meals will be available for an additional $2.50.
Tickets for all Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com. The Pride also have group tickets available for all remaining home games. For more information, contact Director of Ticket Operations Neil Broome at (843) 669-7825.
