Scalabrini's star continues to shine
September 9, 2004 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
The best third baseman in the North Division is also the best third baseman in the Northern League.
Winnipeg third-sacker Pat Scalabrini was named to the Northern League All-Star Team today, less than two months after playing in his third NL All-Star Game, his first as a starter.
Scalabrini, 27, batted .322 this year with 20 home runs and 66 runs batted in. He also banged out a league-best 56 extra-base hits, 34 of which were a personal-best in doubles.
The club leader in four categories, Scalabrini was the Rawlings Player of the Month for June as well as the Daktronics Player of the Week for June 7 to June 13. He set single-season career highs in eight categories, including home runs, where his 20 dingers were four more than the 16 he'd hit in his three previous seasons combined.
Scalabrini was the lone member of the Goldeyes named to the team. Three players from Schaumburg plus two each from Joliet, Kansas City and St. Paul and one from Fargo-Moorhead rounded out the 11-man squad.
