September 9, 2004 - Northern League (NL)
Kansas City Monarchs News Release
We're guaranteed at least two more games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark this season. Get your tickets today and help cheer the T-Bones on to a Northern League title!
Fans can purchase playoff tickets by calling 913-328-BALL (2255) or stopping by the CommunityAmerica Ballpark ticket office. Great seats are still available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday's games! Fans have one more chance to enjoy a weekend with the T-Bones and see their old favorites like Eddie Pearson, and the games will carry with them the excitement and intensity of playoff baseball. And there will be fireworks after Saturday night's game!
In the first two games of the series, we saw amazing pitching performances on both sides. Game 1 pitted T-Bones 14-game-winner Greg Bicknell against Schaumburg Flyers ace Hank Woodman. Rick Prieto provided the offense for the T-Bones with a two-run single in the top of the fifth, and Bicknell made the runs stand up with a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out nine.
Game 2 matched T-Bones workhorse Jonathan Krysa against Flyers starter Matt Bailie. Cody Nowlin provided the offense for the T-Bones, twice putting them ahead by a run with solo homers, but Kirk Pierce's three-run homer against Krysa in the bottom of the eighth gave the Flyers a 5-2 lead the T-Bones couldn't overcome.
With the split in Schaumburg, we basically have a best-two-of-three series in Kansas City. If the T-Bones take two of three, it's on to the finals! The T-Bones will need your support - and we need to make sure we can give them a home-field advantage.
