Goldeyes fans come out again in record numbers
September 9, 2004 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Add another Northern League record to Winnipeg's collection.
Despite the coldest summer on record, Goldeyes fans came out in big numbers again this year. With a sold-out crowd of 7,540 in attendance at last Sunday's regular-season finale with St. Paul, the Goldeyes saw their total attendance for the year reach 323,241.
That number broke the league record of 303,786 set by Winnipeg in 2002, marking the third straight year the club saw its attendance eclipse 300,000.
Winnipeg's average crowd over the season was 7,027 to surpass 7,000 for the second straight year. The Goldeyes are the only Northern League franchise to draw more than 300,000 fans in any season and are the only independent league club to ever average more than 7,000 fans per game.
In their six years at CanWest Global Park, the Goldeyes have played to more than 1.7 million fans during the regular season.
