
Peschel, Gulledge garner post-season honors

FARGO, N.D. â Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks LHP Mike Peschel has been named the Northern League Rookie Pitcher of the Year, while C Kelley Gulledge has been selected to the Northern League All-Star Team, the league office announced today. Both awards were selected by the Northern League's managers, media members and league directors.
Peschel, 25, was 7-2 with a 2.86 ERA and a save this season for the RedHawks. In 110.0 innings pitched, he allowed 37 runs (35 earned) on 96 hits. Peschel struck out 66 batters and walked 36, while holding opponents to a .236 batting average against him. A native of Wahpeton, N.D., Peschel played his college baseball at North Dakota State University.
Peschel is the fifth RedHawks pitcher in nine seasons to earn Northern League Rookie Pitcher of the Year honors. He joins RHP Stephen Lukas (1996), RHP Eric Schultz (1998), RHP Greg Salvevold (1999) and LHP Jason Pearson as RedHawks who have received the award.
Gulledge, 25, was selected as the catcher for the Northern League All-Star Team. This season, Gulledge batted .320 with 31 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 55 RBIs. He set a league record by playing in 96 games this season, while his 31 doubles tied a RedHawks team record.
